
About DM Dance Centre
The DM Dance Centre has been established for over 30 years under the name of Diment Macdonald Dance Centre under the direction of Philip and Christine Diment. Philip is a past president, examiner and director of the International Dance Teachers Association. Christine is an established championship adjudicator in Freestyle and is also the secretary of the South East Area IDTA.
Our studio in Spring Crescent, Portswood has been a popular dance school since the 1930s. It has been extensively modernised but with lots of character enhancing features retained from the original building. In January 2013 the studio was given a makeover and now has air conditioning, a licensed bar and dance accessory store.
Our fully qualified team of dedicated professionals are ready and waiting to welcome you into our family of enthusiastic dancers.
Philip Diment: After a successful competitive career in Ballroom and Latin American from the age of 8, dancing at the top levels from juvenille to professional Philip qualified as a dance teacher in 1973 and has been a full time dance teacher since 1977. He has fulfilled his life time ambition of being president of the IDTA one of the largest dance teachers organizations in the world. He has travelled extensively in this country and abroad as an examiner and is an internationally recognised adjudicator. Philip also trains other professionals for their teaching qualifications.
Christine Diment: Started dancing at the age of 3 in ballet and progressed through to the Ballroom and Latin field becoming an accomplished competitor and danced with Philip as a professional. Christine qualified as a dance teacher in 1975 and has been a full time dance teacher since 1978. Christine is a Fellow in Freestyle and trains many other professionals for their teaching qualifications. She is a championship adjudicator in Freestyle.
Hayley Diment: Started dancing at the age of 2 in freestyle and has competed in Freestyle, Ballroom and Latin. She reached Championship level in Freestyle winning many titles including the title of All England Champion and danced competitively to Pre-Championship level in Ballroom and Latin. Hayley qualified as a dance teacher in 2002. She is an International Championship Adjudicator in Freestyle and has judged major competitions such as the Norwegian, British and Irish Masters Championships.
